A Daniel-Luz Futura Photo
Name, where are you from?
Daniel Benavides del Pino. From Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.
What do you do?
Musician, artist, model and I work at Fred Perry shop in Madrid.
Describe your style in three words?
I simply dress what I like.
What's the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Health, in Barcelona by 2015.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Soft Moon and Ariel Pink. I think both of them represent a big part of my influences since I was a teen, although I admit that it’s difficult to choose only two bands from all the many processes I’ve been through, as I can easily say that could be also New Order and Pet Shop Boys.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
New Wave, '80s and Post Punk.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
David Byrne. I don’t know… I think we could get along well.
Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I keep a good memory of when I was on tour on Mexico and played at Club Atlántico at D.F. in 2014. People there are very passionate. I remember how warm was the audience and their effusivity.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Julian Casablancas and Tino Casal.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Y No Amanece' by Los Secretos.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'This Must Be The Place' by Talking Heads.
One record you would keep forever?
Anyone from The Cure or the first one of Tears for Fears.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'No Mires a los Ojos de la Gente' by 'Golpes Bajos'.
A song you wished you had written?
'No Debiste Asustarme' by El Último Sueño.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Somewhere' by 'Black Marble.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Perdida' by Trío Los Panchos.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Played-A-Live' by Safri Duo.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'World in Motion' by New Order.
Any new bands you are into at the moment?
Black Marble, Fontaines D.C., The Garden, Margarita Quebrada, Lust For Youth, Drab Majesty, VVV, Choir Boy…
