A Pom Poko Photo
Name, where are you from?
We are Pom Poko: Jonas, Ola, Martin and (me) Ragnhild, from Norway.
Describe your style in three words?
Colourful, playful and sporty.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The best gig I’ve been to is Christine and The Queens at the Øya festival in Oslo in 2019. She has the best energy I’ve ever seen on stage.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Probably Erykah Badu and Deerhoof, because it’s our two favourite bands/artists.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
The guy who makes our artwork, Erlend Peder Kvam, has influenced our music quite a bit by making some really great cartoon characters that fit our music.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I would say David Byrne because he has done so many great things and still does. His last performance 'American Utopia' is utterly amazing.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
We played in Albert Hall with Ezra Furman, that was a really beautiful and great venue. Also, we played on the floor in a St. Pauli football-merch shop at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, it was a great show.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Judee Sill. Maybe not that unsung, but everyone has to listen to her music. It’s fantastic!
The first track you played on repeat?
'Magical Mystery Tour' by The Beatles.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'How Will I Know' by Whitney Houston.
One record you would keep forever?
Would keep a lot of records, but definitely 'Rumours' by Fleetwood Mac.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Conceptual Romance' by Jenny Hval.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Bennie And The Jets' by Elton John.
A song you wished you had written?
'When You’re Gone' by Bedouine.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Desperado' by Rihanna.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
I don’t think I have a song like that, I like almost all songs.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Bonny Light Horseman' by Bonny Light Horseman.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
Right now I’m listening to a band called Ohmme and really enjoying their latest album. Also Lily Koningsberg. And Hannah Cohen.
