03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Street, cool, indefinable.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

The Specials - Ghost Town

This was the first single I bought in 1981 and I played it until both it and the old record player fell apart.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

At the time this album was so new, so expressive and it spoke for me, it knew who I was and it made me feel amazing when I listened to it but that's what music can do for you. It moves you in every way.

A song from your most memorable gig?

New Order - Blue Monday

The World famous Barrowlands Ballroom Glasgow....summer '86....a sweat filled packed Barrowlands totally buzzing and a night I'll never forget.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Depeche Mode - New Life

From the first electronic beat this song goes through me and acts like puppet strings pulling me up and chucking me about, it's a tune you just can't help dancing to....TRY IT!!!

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

The Knife - Heartbeats

This is not particularly new but its newish to me and the Scandinavian band are refreshing and the music and their style is pretty cool.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

The Damned - New Rose

This is one of my getting ready to go out tracks....thumping punk anthem to get the blood coursing before you hit the town.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Who - 5:15

Manufacturing an attitude...(very important for a teenage boy)

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Happy Mondays - Hallelujah - Club Mix

Ecstasy.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds

Chilled and keeps the beats coming but in a chilled way like a warm down...
