Museum Of Youth CultureYouth Culture Fred Perry Shirt
£120
Celebrating the subcultural significance of the Fred Perry Shirt, the Museum of Youth Culture reimagines our signature style with an all-over photographic print made up of two archival images. Moments in time made permanent – memories of youth that we can all share, whether we were there or not.
The Fred Perry Shirt has long been a subcultural stalwart: we’ve been making it since the 1950s, and you’ve been making it your own ever since. If anyone understands the relationship between Fred Perry and its people, it’s the Museum of Youth Culture. Together, we’ve created this all-over printed iteration of our classic M3600 style, combining images sourced from MOYC’s ever-expanding archive. Legendary photographer Peter Walsh made history behind the lens in the late 80s when Madchester earned its name: Helen Wheatley was one of many wearing the Fred Perry Shirt in rapturous crowds up and down the UK at the time. She shared her memories of the period with us at our Glasgow shop, and some of her shots from back in the day made their way into MOYC’s collection. Her imagery is blended with Peter’s pictures here in a hazy, monochrome design, and framed by timeless twin-tipping in an exclusive shade – MOYC Orange. The result? So much more than just a nostalgic print. It's an ode to creators and communities: a call to give it a go and get involved. Remembering without the rose tint – revelling in the realness of the moments that mattered the most: looking back but moving forward. They don’t make them like they used to? Says who?
