03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Fearlessly ever changing

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

The Human League - Don't You Want Me

I first heard this song in the car with my dad on our way to do the family shopping. I must have been 6 or 7 at the time, and demanded that we listened to it on repeat on the journey home!

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

David Bowie - Life On Mars? - 2015 Remastered Version

Hunky Dory is one of those few albums I can honestly listen to all the way through. Life on Mars? Conjures up so many childhood memories, and has come to encapsulate all the nostalgia I feel for my childhood and former life in England.

A song from your most memorable gig?

New Order - Temptation - (7" Version) [2015 Remastered Version]

This was the closing track for New Order's 2012 gig at the now closed Roseland Ballroom. It's very important to me as it was the last concert I ever went to with my dad, someone I profess I owe a lot of my musical taste to.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

ABBA - Dancing Queen

I just can't help it man, it's ABBA! Disco and like, really good pop, just always get me up and dancing, this song is just one of those few that makes you feel all alone on the dance floor.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

Just caught wind of Chvrches, and I can't believe I've been missing out on them for so long! I just love the synthpopiness of it along with Mayberry's fantastic vocals.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - They Reminisce Over You

I listen to this literally everywhere. Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth really captured that nostalgia and quiet self retrospection that goes with remembering the past, and then managed to turn it into one of my favorite Hip Hop tracks - everyone should hear it!

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Grouper - Heavy Water/I'd Rather Be Sleeping

This song just has all the angst of my teenage years embedded in it perfectly. It's hard to listen to it now without feeling all that lowness and agony that went with my awkward phase haha!

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Stevie Wonder - All I Do

Stevie Wonder is a god - this we can't refute. "All I Do" is an anthem for anyone feeling love sick, anyone missing someone dear, and just about everyone who loves good funk!

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Clan of Xymox - No Words

I can see it now, coming home at 5am hungover to hell and back, just about having danced til I dropped. This song for me is the equivalent of that sunrise in the morning that makes you feel like a vampire
