03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Cool as ‘ote.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Metallica - Cyanide

Metallica was the first band I fell in love with, when I was about 12. This was the band that sparked my interest in music and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Arctic Monkeys - A Certain Romance

An absolute belter. Need I say more?

A song from your most memorable gig?

Palace - So Long Forever

I’ve seen these twice; Bodega, Nottingham and then at The Cookie, Les-tah while I was at uni. Not like any other gig I’d been to at the time. Love them.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Luther Vandross - Never Too Much

Whether I’m with my dad in the pub, or my mates in the club, I can’t stand still when his song comes on. Most of the time, I’ve requested it anyway.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Tom Misch - What Kinda Music

I’ve been obsessed with Tom Misch ever since I discovered him. Yussef Dayes, too. It’s so refreshing to hear a track where the drums are pushed as far forward in a mix as the vocals.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Artful Dodger - Moving Too Fast - Radio Edit

A total summer vibe. Volume right up, car windows right down. I love pretending to be a Garage MC as well.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent

A time in my life where I’d only have about 3 albums on shuffle on my old Nokia, because I got a £15 voucher to spend on music and I couldn’t afford anything else. I never got bored.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2 - 2011 Remastered Version

Me and my mates couldn’t go by a karaoke bar in Tenerife and NOT request this song. Absolute belter. You can’t listen to this song and not scream every single word.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Tame Impala - Feels Like We Only Go Backwards

I don’t usually make it to the end of the night, I’d probably back-door it. But if I did, I’d want to listen to something like this.
