03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Colourful, cute & cheeky.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Lianne La Havas - Bittersweet

This song is the perfect chilling in because we're on lockdown and the sun's shining.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Snoh Aalegra - Love Like That

I'm obsessed with the feeling Snoh Aalegra's voice and her whole album gives me. Her music is so warm and beautiful. This album helped me through a tough break up and is the soundtrack to that time in my life.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Songhoy Blues - Sekou Oumarou

I saw them at EartH Hackney a really special venue and I was right at the front dancing the whole night, they have such amazing energy it really radiated. I remember I left so lifted and elated on a cold winter night.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

MJ Cole - Crazy Love

UK garage always gets me up and dancing, this song comes on and I just HAVE to move!

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Mansur Brown - Back South

I saw Mansur Brown a few years ago, he's hot on the London jazz scene, his album 'Shiroi' deserves a real listen.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Inner State 81 - Honey Eye

This is a banger! You might recognise the sample from the old school Nelly & Kelly track!

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Sweet Female Attitude - Flowers (Sunship Edit)

This reminds me of house parties with my girls, we'd ALWAYS request this and dance around like crazy.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Evelyn "Champagne" King - Love Come Down

You can't help but sing and dance along to this, it's such a feel good tune. This is a real '80s classic, this would be at the top of my karaoke list.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Roy Davis Jr. - Gabriel - Live Garage Mix

I got to meet Roy Davis Jr through a friend when he played in London at the end of the year which was insane as 'Gabriel' has come on so many times at parties. This is such a classic and the perfect winding down song.
