Describe your style in three words?
Paul Weller Chic.
The first track you played on repeat?
The Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored - Remastered
My dad sat me down when I was 10 years old and played me the roses. Sounded like something I’d never heard before. Something more than just music. And this tune is just massive.
A song from your favorite album?
The Streets - Don't Mug Yourself
The Midlands powerhouse which is Mike Skinner has always been very prominent in my playlists, and this particular tune is my go-to request at a house party. But the whole album is flawless.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Fat White Family - Whitest Boy on the Beach
One of the couple times I’ve seen Fat White Family was at Notts Rock City in 2019, and it was the most fun I’ve ever had. The best live band ever.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
David Bowie - Let's Dance - 2018 Remaster
Basic answer. But that Nile Roger guitar has magic qualities.
A new song you're listening to?
Viagra Boys - Ain't Nice
At the time of writing, this latest single from Stockholm’s answer to The Fall is a post-punk epic. And as shown by the music video, a great tune to walk to.
Best song to turn up loud?
A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray
Hacienda classic. What more can I say. Proper dance tune.
A song that defines the teenage you?
Iceage - Morals
The pinnacle of Danish gothic post-punk. Beautiful piano chords lightly accompany dark poetic groans and heavy gritty guitar. Very much defines the teenage me.
An anthemic song?
The Beta Band - Dry the Rain
In the words of John Cusack's character from High Fidelity, “I will now sell five copies of The Three E.P.'s by The Beta Band”. Proper pump up the volume, hands in the air, belting your lungs out for the last choruses.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Anemone
Pulsing '90s neo-psych anthem. Pure atmosphere. Nothing beats it to end an all-nighter.
