A Tommy Gold Photo
Name, where are you from?
My name's Tommy Gold & I'm from West London.
Describe your style in three words?
Tricky in '90s.
What's the best gig you've been to?
Stone Roses homecoming gig Heaton Park in 2012. One of my favourite bands, I never thought I’d get to see them live in my lifetime.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Two-tone, Britpop & Funky House.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Vini Reilly. I think that when I first heard Durutti Column, it was when I really discovered the beauty of a soundscape whilst composing music. I'd love to talk to Vini about his writing and recording process.
Of all the venues you've played, which is your favourite?
My residency is at Phonox on a Saturday. This is always my favourite place to play, not only is the sound system great but their team make sure the vibe is perfect.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Not completely unsung but it’s easy to forget about how necessary Chad Hugo's technical understanding of music is to the Neptunes success.
-
