03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Tattered, taxidermy and tailored.

The first track you played on repeat?

Echo & the Bunnymen - Crocodiles

My favourite Bunnymen son... always loved Ian McCulloch's writing. Happened upon this song when I was younger and listened to it exclusively for around a year.

A song from your favorite album?

David Bowie - Station to Station - 2016 Remaster

I was fortunate enough to be shown this record by my parents when I was quite young. Don't see me discarding this as my favourite in this lifetime... nothing compares to the Thin White Duke for me.

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again - 2011 Remaster

It has to be Johnny Marr in Washington, DC. I debated his existence for some time... it was difficult for me to believe someone that cool truly existed.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Pet Shop Boys - Left to My Own Devices - 2001 Remaster

No need to explain... Pet Shop Boys will always get the job done.

A new song you're listening to?

Fontaines D.C. - Living In America

I am loving Fontaines D.C. at the moment. The perfect blend of cynicism and hope.

Best song to turn up loud?

Bauhaus - Dark Entries

This opening riff simply requires maximum volume. Bauhaus is always best played loud.

A song that defines the teenage you?

This Mortal Coil - Song To The Siren - Remastered

Found this song when I was fourteen or fifteen. Still in my daily rotation even after all these years. Don't think it will be leaving it anytime soon as well.

An anthemic song?

Pulp - Common People

Easily up there with my favourites of all time. Perhaps one of the finest written songs of all time - my song of the '90s.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Sparklehorse - Rainmaker

"Sometimes you feel just like a stone tossed into the deep" - This tune was one I started listening to recently, and it has a habit of winding me down. My favourite song to close out the night.
