Welcome to 2022.

As we look ahead to a new year with optimism, we take influence from the UK’s Southern Soul scene for our upcoming collections. A time when fashion, music and inclusivity collided from the ‘70s onwards, Southern Soul was born out of clubs like Top Rank in Reading and Goldmine in Canvey Island, as groups of likeminded people bonded over their love of contemporary soul music. A celebration of a scene built around music and togetherness seems fitting for 2022, as we all look forward to more time spent together, connecting across dancefloors all over the world.

As humans we’ve always left our mark, to show to the world that ‘I was here’. In our youth, these mementos take the form of a pin badge that signals our musical allegiance, or that crumpled up poster we tore off the wall at a rave. From rare men’s clothing, to rave flyers, we speak to some keen collectors about how they got started.

Read on for an exclusive first look at our collaboration with Nicholas Daley, as worn by Black Midi drummer, Morgan Simpson. With a mutual interest in the intertwining of contemporary culture and traditional craftsmanship, our collaboration with the British menswear designer is infused with countercultural references. This collection takes inspiration from the funk, soul and jazz musicians of 1970s England.

And finally, the Fred Perry Shirt lies at the centre of all that we do. As we celebrate 70 years of the shirt, we introduce you to some latest additions to our community. From musicians and artists, to post ladies and our very own shop staff.
