03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Never grows old.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

The Police - So Lonely

When I was 15, I played this non-stop on my stereo at home and on my Sony Walkman. It struck a chord with the lonely teenage me.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Beat - Ranking Full Stop

My favourite album changes all the time, but The Beat's "I Just Can't Stop It" is as good as anything, and "Ranking Full Stop" is one of it's best tracks. Classic song, classic album, classic group. RIP Ranking Roger.

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Clash - London Calling - Remastered

San Francisco. It was The Clash. Enough said.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

New Order - Blue Monday '88

New Order. Blue Monday. Perfect.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Ezra Collective - You Can't Steal My Joy

Old Skool and New Skool all at once.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

The Jam - Town Called Malice

I can listen to this anywhere. An iconic band at their best.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Who - Baba O'Riley

It's only Teenage Wasteland.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Prince - Purple Rain

A genius at the top of his game.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

The Specials - Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think) - 2015 Remaster

It has the virtue of being 100% true.
