Name, where are you from?
Ama and I’m from London.

Describe your style in three words?
I’m always comfy.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Probably when I went to see Beyonce, it was my 13th birthday also my first ever concert and I had standing tickets. I managed to get half the day off school so me and my mum could be right at the front of the queue. The whole concert was just amazing, and I remember being in bits crying on the train home because I thought me and Beyonce made eye contact lmao.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Childish Gambino, because he is one of my favourite artists of all time and I am yet to see him live and Doja Cat because I have also never seen her live and her early music was so influential on my journey starting to make music and it would be a real full-circle moment.

Which Subcultures have influenced you?
I don’t know if you could technically class this as a subculture but it’s definitely a community so I will and that’s Soulection I remember being around 13 and religiously listening to every single episode and they put me on to so much different music and it really inspired me so much.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I would spend an hour with Rihanna, just because she is that bitch lmao... I feel like it would be good vibes, very educational as she is a boss in every aspect and very fun.

Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
Probably Somerset House, I went to see Hiatus Kaiyote because I was obsessed with them and I went with my big sister. The venue was beautiful, the sky turned pink, the music was amazing and it was just a magical experience.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Kelela, she sonically pushes R&B and probably is my favourite female in the genre. she is just amazing, she’s in her own lane and has been putting out straight fire constantly for years.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
Lamar - 'It’s Not That Easy'
It was my first ever cd and I guess seven-year-old me had some heartbreak to get over.

A song that defines the teenage you?
AMA - 'Destination'
I’m gonna chose my own song because I am still teenage me so this is a hard question.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“put in the work that’s all you need to buss”
Skepta - 'Bullet From a Gun'

A song you wished you had written?
Sampha - 'Without'
It's just such a beautiful, pure song and everything about it just resonates with me.

Best song to turn up loud?
Smugzy ace - 'Shhmokey', because what’s the point of listening to drill quietly.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Show Me The Body - 'Body War'
I listen to it when I'm feeling angsty haha... I guess people wouldn't expect me to listen to more rocky/punky/metal music. I'd like to think people really have an expectation of the type of music I listen to, I'm open to enjoying any type of music... as long as it's good!

The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
Koffee - 'Toast'
I mean who doesn’t want to instantly move when they hear that bassline?

Best song to end an all-nighter?
Frank Ocean - 'Nikes'
For that night bus home to calm you down get into the sleepy chill night time zone.

Any new artists you are into at the moment?
I am really into LOLA - she is actually a friend of mine and her music is just really majestic, she’s like a fairy that makes the most beautiful music and I can’t wait for her to release more.
