Describe your style in three words?
Modern Euro Classic
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
The Bar-Kays - Soul Finger
The earliest musical memory I have is of my dad playing Soul Finger by The Bar-Kays in his car and me and my brother messing around to it over and over again. It would have been off the Atlantic Soul Classics compilation.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
The Beatles - Nowhere Man - Remastered 2009
Hard to choose a favourite but I love that this was the first album you can hear them experimenting with their sound, while still keeping the standard high. And trying new guitar sounds, using Fender Stratocasters. It also includes the fab George number 'Think For Yourself'.
A song from your most memorable gig?
The Creation - Biff Bang Pow
I remember covering this tune with The Moons back in 2013 when we toured Europe. We had some great gigs but in particular I remember one in Vienna that stands out. We'd just had a couple of days off sightseeing so we were in high spirits, and the venue called Wuk was really cool.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
James Brown - Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved
I've never been the best dancer, but any of those really dirty funky tracks by James Brown are always great. I love DJing and playing this one out. Bobby Byrd features on it as well.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
Mac DeMarco - No Other Heart
I love Mac and this album in particular. Just a great lyricist with great melodies to match. This is a cool upbeat tune about being in love with someone who's already taken. The bass playing is brilliant too.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
Serge Gainsbourg - Chatterton
Yeah it's a short number about suicide - but just a great sound. Imagine Hip Hug-Her by Booker T & The MGs with Serge's dark vocal over the top. Great to blare out on a sunny day with a beer.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
The On Off's - Wrong Upstairs - Radio Edit
It's funny, the members who were in this band are now good friends of mine, but this was the best sound coming out of Northampton then. Every time I hear this tune it takes me back to 2006 - going to gigs, discovering loads of new music and being a student wanting to join a band.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
David Bowie - The Jean Genie - 2013 Remastered Version
It's classic Bowie isn't it. One of his signature tunes off an amazing album and every time I hear it played out everyone sings along to the chorus.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
The Velvet Underground - Sunday Morning
The calm after the storm I guess, beautiful lyrics and melody. I've always loved that line 'Watch out, the world's behind you'.
