03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

To the nines.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.

'Demon Days' is probably one of the first CD's I can remember having. 'Feel Good' was the only song I knew from it when I was bought it and I remember playing it over and over again in my mum's car on the way to school much to her despair. Still a tune.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Arctic Monkeys - The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala

I'll try not to make this too Arctic Monkeys based... I remember first hearing the SIAS album and not being that into it as it was less rock n roll than the others. It definitely grew on me and is now one of my favourite albums. Alex Turner is a genius.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Tame Impala - Elephant

I went to see Tame Impala in Blackpool earlier this year, it was such a small venue considering they played The O2 in London a few nights before and it just went off. They did an extended intro to 'Elephant' and I've never felt a floor bounce as much as it did, such a buzz.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Beatles - I Saw Her Standing There - Remastered 2009

This song seems to follow me around, and I can't help but have a little boogie whenever I hear it. I also got to see The Jaded Heart's Club which is a supergroup / Beatles tribute act made up of members of Blur, Muse, Zutons and Jet. Great night.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Inhaler - My Honest Face

I must've listened to this song about 5 times in a row when I first heard it, I just instantly loved it and it's been stuck in my head since. Also pretty sick music video for it too, shot by Anais Gallagher which is really cool.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm

If you came round to mine for pre drinks before a night out you will be guaranteed to hear at least one Arctic Monkeys song. It just bangs doesn't it? I've also never seen a bigger mosh pit than when I saw them at TRNSMT and they played this. That rock n roll eh?

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Kanye West - All Falls Down

I was mainly into rap music when I was younger and Kanye was definitely my favourite. Such good memories from house parties of listening to old school Kanye records. He also headlined Glastonbury the first year I went which I really wasn't expecting - I was buzzing.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Oasis - Morning Glory

You can't deny Oasis definitely have a few when it comes to anthems. 'What's the Story Morning Glory' is a great song and a great album. It's also The Courteeners walk on tune so I always get that excited feeling hearing it. Queue the lads lads, oi oii.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way - 2004 Remaster

You need them to get out your house at some point don't you? Go your own way...please...right now.
