03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Smart, Retro and 2tone.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

The Specials - Gangsters

In my house back in 1979, first heard it on Radio 1, played it constantly.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Madness - The Prince

Debut single from the Nutty Boys, this album moulded me into what I am today.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Madness - Night Boat to Cairo

SEC Glasgow, the guys always finish the night with this tune, everyone goes crazy. I met my good friend and his wife for the first time that night, since then we've been to numerous gigs together.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Billy Ocean - Red Light Spells Danger

Just a fantastic song, love hearing it loud, usually fills the floor when it gets played.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Gerry Cinnamon - Where We're Going

Great song from a local Glasgow boy, album just hit no.1 in the chart.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

AC/DC - Thunderstruck

Anywhere. Has to be through headphones and up to the max.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Madness - House of Fun

A time when as a teenager, I had not a care in the world. This song made it to no.1 which made it even more special, I had just turned 17, this song summed it up.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Deacon Blue - Dignity

Usually gets played at the end of a function, everyone feels the need to get up to this, as most people know it, floor packed for the last tune of the night.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Artemesia - Bits And Pieces

And why not? A dance anthem, gets everyone in the mood to party on.
