Describe your style in three words?

Simple, beautiful, classic.

The first track you played on repeat?

The Police - Walking On The Moon

The first record I ever bought (and for a time the only one too). I nearly wore it out playing it over and over. 45 years later it still sounds fab.

A song from your favorite album?

Marvin Gaye - Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)

My favourite track from my favourite album of all time. Lyrically superb and a voice so beautiful you almost could believe that there really IS a god...

A song from your most memorable gig?

Beastie Boys - Slow And Low

I was fortunate enough to see the Beasties on their first ever UK tour supporting Run DMC at Brixton. Topless dancers in cages, a 40ft phallus and lots of goofing around from the band - the bass on this track was turned up so high that I could feel my ribs rattling. Brilliant!

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Bombay Bicycle Club - Shuffle

I adore BBC - probably the most consistently brilliant band of the last 20 years. Really carefree happy tunes that wash away all the rubbish in my head.

A new song you're listening to?

Real Estate - Paper Cup

It's not really that new but Real Estate have been one of the best discoveries that I've made recently. Really cool West Coast America chilled vibe generally. I chose this one as it features the superb Sylvan Esso and also because the video is pretty messed up. Enjoy!

Best song to turn up loud?

Public Enemy - Rebel Without A Pause

This whole album should be played loud but this is the one that I'd want to blow the speakers on my stereo. Booming base, screaming samples of the JB's and James Browns Funky Drummer and Chuck D spitting lyrics like a Cobra. Epic.

A song that defines the teenage you?

Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine - Anytime Anyplace Anywhere - 2012 Remaster

I lost count of how many times I saw Carter live - always a brilliant show - a bit like the Pet Shop Boys if they'd been sniffing glue and always absolute carnage. Anytime Anyplace Anywhere is about alcohol abuse - something that I did plenty of in my teens!

An anthemic song?

The Pogues - Streams of Whiskey

Another brilliant live band in the days before Shane MacGowan lost his teeth and his marbles. I've still got bruises from a Pogues gig in 1986. So many singalong anthems but this one was always the one that got me into full-on football fan mode.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

The Sundays - Can't Be Sure

Regularly the last track at the legendary Sunday night at the Majestic Club in Reading, this was a beautifully downbeat track to end the night. Also, the 12" featured the sublime 'Don't Tell Your Mother' - wonderful tunes.
