A The Skinner Brothers Photo
Name, where are you from?
The Skinner Brothers, London.
Describe your style in three words?
Rock n Roll.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I went to see Fishbone at The Islington Academy when I was younger, it was great. Angelo Moore is a top front man.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Motorhead - Lemmy is a legend, it would've been a proper honour to share the stage with him. KISS - my Dad is mega fan of kiss so I've been brought up on them my whole life.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
My shoe and jean choice are influenced by football casual culture, my Ben Sherman shirt and Soulboy jumper are influenced by the mod subculture. And my hat takes influence from classic English working-class culture.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
It would have to be Lemmy again, having a couple of Jack Daniels at the Rainbow in LA.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Brixton Academy - we just played two shows with Kasabian there, it was surreal.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Jason Williamson from Sleaford Mods - I've listened to Sleaford Mods for years and I can relate to his story.
The Skinner Brothers recently released their new album 'Soul Boy II'. Listen, purchase or stream it via ditto.fm/soul-boy-ii.
The first track you played on repeat?
'We Gotta Get You A Woman' by Todd Rundgren.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous' by Good Charlotte.
One record you would keep forever?
'Trout Mask Replica' by Captain Beefheart.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Move On Up' by Curtis Mayfield.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' by Ian Drury & The Blockheads.
A song you wished you had written?
'Zoot Suit' by The High Numbers.
Best song to turn up loud?
'(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone' by The Monkees.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Take It Easy My Brother Charlie' by Jorge Ben Jor.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Sweet Caroline' by Neil Diamond.
Any new music you're listening to right now?
'Bojack' by Teef.
'Leon Best' by Casisdead.
