Where are you from?
Bursa, Turkey, pale blue dot, Solar System and much more.
What do you do?
I try to make songs.
Describe your style in 3 words?
Musically it’s simple, melodic, multi-layered.
But I’d describe it as mind, body and soul.
I don’t think I have a certain style. I think I’m on the left of things. Trying to express. Share. I’m like a hound with a stuffed nose. Think of a trapeze dancer with a fear of heights or a polar bear feeling cold. Imagine a little girl. All she ever wants to be is a ballerina but she has one leg. I’m tiptoeing, looking, listening. I’m circling the cage.
What is the band doing at the moment?
Recording, writing, performing. Basically living, working on what to deliver and how to deliver it.
How should your music be listened to?
It really changes with the song and the time. It might be before a stupid exam or on the road to your mother’s funeral.
What do you miss about home when you are on tour?
My room, friends and family.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Salon IKSV, because of emotional reasons. And All Saints Church.
What British music icons inspire your sound today?
The Beatles, Bowie, Oasis, The Verve, Blur, Morrissey, Kinks and Radiohead.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Bowie, mod, punk, britpop.
What music defines the teenage you?
'90s Britpop.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Paul Weller.
You can make a record with anyone from history, who would it be and why?
Tom Waits because his heart pounds like no one, he walks strange and I like his haircut.
You can spend an hour with anyone from history, who would it be and why?
Kurt Cobain. But I guess he would get bored of me easily and walk away.
So Michael Stipe again because he would be kind and wouldn’t kick me off.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history, who would they be and why?
Neil Young and Radiohead. Neil is one of Thom’s heroes. You could easily hear the musical connection. Radiohead and Neil Young are my musical heroes. It would be great if I could just play one song before them, without boring the people too much and then the legends would take over. It would be glorious if the gig finished with all musicians performing one of Neil’s tunes as an encore.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been too?
Radiohead, Blackpool, 2006.

What is the first song you played on repeat?
That could easily be any The Beatles song. But I clearly remember listening 'Ticket To Ride' for days and nights, rubbing the replay button’s paint off. Same for 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Street Spirit'.
Song you wish you had written?
I wish I’d written the bass line of 'How to Disappear Completely' by Radiohead or 'Leave' by REM.

I really love some works of Kanye West, Jay Z and Lil Wayne. Let’s say Hello Brooklyn, American Gangster album by Jay Z ft. Lil Wayne. (It won’t be on Spotify so Kanye West - Closed on Sunday). Lana Del Rey’s 'Body Electric' might be another one.
