Where are you from?
I was born in Queens, NY and raised in Tokyo.
What do you do?
Musician.
Describe your style in three words?
Healing / Punk / True sex.
Which music defines the teenage you?
'You’re My Best Friend' by Queen and 'Naked' by Spice Girls.
A British icon who has inspired you?
Ivy Lab. Ivy Lab was originally a collaboration between three producers but is now just two. They liked to experiment and try to create new styles. Their way of making new sounds and beats is awesome. I think they're genius. It’s so cool. They are at the forefront of 'Halftime' and 'Future Beats' movement.
What has been your all-time favourite gig?
I don’t go to gigs often, but the best one I've been to was Ivy Lab. We performed together for the CIRCUS event in Tokyo which took place in August of last year (2018). Also, when I went to see the Spice Girls when I about 6 or 7 years old.
What is your favourite independent venue to watch live music?
WOMB. This is a wonderful space. These days I became to think that dry sound is good.
Do you have a favourite local record shop?
I rarely buy records.
What was the first song you played on repeat?
'Stop' by Spice Girls.
A song you wish you'd written?
'Microwave' by Ivy Lab. This is too cool.
A song from your favourite album?
'What You Know' from 'Left Is Right' by TroyBoi. This who album is intense and this is the most intense song of them all. I often play tracks from it when I DJ.
What is the last piece of music you bought?
I bought '20/20' by Ivy Lab when it was released in 2015. I was looking for something new to play before DJing and I thought this was great.
Best song to bring people together?
'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' by Queen.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Love Me Do' by The Beatles. Imagine this track playing and you just have a moment to take it all in after an all-nighter.
Best love song of all time?
'Last Time Lover' by Spice Girls. I've listened to this again as an adult and I really like the slow rhythm.
Is there a song you like that people wouldn't expect?
'What Can I Do' by The Corrs. I know this song because of my parents.
