Describe your style in three words?
Rudeboy.
The first track you played on repeat?
The Specials - Do Nothing
At home, just loved the feel, Terry Hall's voice. It was the then and now for me aged fourteen.
A song from your favorite album?
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead - 2011 Remaster
Pick a Smiths song you like the best… Utterly impossible! Stunning album and it’s just easier to go with the rasping title track.
A song from your most memorable gig?
The Specials - Man at C&A - 2015 Remaster
The Specials at the Coventry Ruins gigs in 2019. Went to a couple back to back and this was the opener for each night. Stunning setting for a gig by the way!
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Madness - Night Boat To Cairo
Madness. What more do I need to say?
A new song you're listening to?
The Mysterines - In My Head
The song just got in my head. Looking forward obviously to the new Specials 'Protest Songs' album. Also Damon Albarn's new solo album.
Best song to turn up loud?
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
What a song and really ONLY should be played “up loud”. I’ve been fortunate enough to see Muse on a couple of occasions and boy can’t they belt them out! Amazing live band and shows. This song without a doubt is always in the show and a huge standout track.
A song that defines the teenage you?
Madness - Embarrassment
Maybe the song that swung it for me and pointed me in the direction I still find myself going in. Nothing embarrassing lol, just how that song maybe was the one that set me on the path to the scene, that Rudeboy, Ska, Skinhead “subculture” culture and tribal look I still adhere to.
An anthemic song?
The Cure - A Forest - Live
Easy one for this. I’ve picked a live version for you, having seen them play live on many occasions just like 'Cydonia' above The Cure have to play 'A Forest' or else. I’ve also witnessed if I recall during the Kissing Tour Robert Smith belting it out that year better than ever.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
The Smiths - I Know It's Over - 2011 Remaster
Maybe the toughest of questions, I don’t do all-nighters anymore ;0) BUT if I’m having an at home with a few beers and a bottle of red I do have a go-to end of the evening tune and this is it…
