A JAXN Photo
Name, where are you from?
JAXN, Manchester UK.
Describe your style in three words?
Nostalgic, surf skate.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Red Hot Chili Peppers on their most recent tour, I’ve waited all my life to see them, even in their old age they didn’t disappoint.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
It would have to be The Cure and maybe Prince. I imagine Prince shows felt pretty special, as if you were part of history and The Cure were always me and my Mum’s favourite band.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
A lot of subcultures have influenced me if I’m being honest, my area of interest has always been the '90s. For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with the music, cinema, fashion and the general feel.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Richard Ashcroft from The Verve, he grew up not far from me and his lyricism has always really resonated with me.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
To date, I have only played two shows. I’d have to say Camden Assembly in London just because it was my first show and it felt like a huge milestone.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his guitar playing has always moved me beyond words. I’m inspired by his ethos and his approach to music.
Multi-disciplinary artist JAXN released his new single 'One Kiss' in July 2022. Listen, purchase or stream it via linktr.ee/jaxnbaby.
The first track you played on repeat?
'You’re Gorgeous' by Babybird.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Sticks ’N’ Stones' by Jamie T.
One record you would keep forever?
'Aquemini' by Outkast.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“Cause it’s a bitter sweet symphony, that’s life”
From 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' by The Verve.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Crisis' by JAXN.
A song you wished you had written?
Happy Birthday for the royalties.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Two Princes' by Spin Doctors.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'That Don’t Impress Me Much' by Shania Twain.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Shelter' by Ray LaMontagne.
Any new artists you are listening to right now?
'Bad Habit' by Steve Lacy.
'brokeboy' by Internet Girl.
